Reenactment
or Living History is trying to recreate a certain era in our History.
Many thousands of people all over the world regulary put on reproduction
Historical costumes and show public what life was like back then.
Medieval Castles are occupied by Knights and Lords, trenches are being
build by WW1 soldiers, Victorian ladies and Gentleman dance a romantic
waltz.
All of this as authentic as possible, ask the Roman soldier what he
is eating and he will tell you it is a real 2000 year old recipe,
a Second World War Homeguard member will show you that the book he
is reading was sprinted in 1939.
Reenactors know what is feels like to wake up in a prehistoric farm
or how a 15th century 12 course banquet tastes like.
If youre intriqued by the 1930's and 1940's or just the Second World
War you often try to imagine what it was like back then. Reenactment
can be a way of helping you understand it all a bit more or just spread
your passion for the subject.
Most schoolchildren dont know anything about history, those who visit
a reenactment event learn a lot even if they dont want to!
To
learn and teach more about the Second World war I have started the
1940-45 Civilian Population research and Living History Group.
