Jackets
Womens jackets of the 1930s and 1940s were very much like the mens jackets, wide and large lapes, shaped with a waste and large shoulders.
They usually matched a skirt or were part of a 2 piece suit.
Shortly after the war this mother and child posed in the middle of Amsterdam, she is wearing a nice 2 piece suit.
Coats
Womens coats where rather large and long, they often covered the entire body and like the mens coats had wide lapels.

Blouses
But the women who wore suits or skirts would wear blouses with these. The typical blouse of the era was of a light color, often white, they where modestly decorated and very feminine.
